Understand and Celebrate Philippine Independence Day
June 12 is the date General Emilio Aguinaldo (Philippines' first Republican President) proclaimed the independence of the Filipinos in Kawit, Cavite, in 1898. The celebration of Independece Day is no ordinary celebration, but it's a day on which all Filipino society must pause and reflect on the past, to remember their heroes and heroines who brought freedom to our nation.
